The Highland Park Recorder Society has several important announcements to share:
The Middlesex County Office of Arts and History is pleased to announce that the Highland Park Recorder Society has been awarded a Local Arts Program grant in the amount of $4000 for 2019. Their panel of evaluators commented, “The organization is unique in keeping an early form of music alive…” “Panel appreciated the applicant holds performances for disabled, seniors and ethnically diverse youth.”
We are thrilled to announce the schedule for the Guest Conductors Program. You will have the opportunity to sight-read a variety of music under the baton of highly esteemed, accomplished, and experienced musicians, teachers and guest conductors. You will have a chance to network and socialize with your fellow musicians, one Wednesday a month. Recorder players and other musicians, welcome! Please mark your calendars:

“Songs and Dances,” lyrical works and pieces with strong dance rhythms. Music by Josquin des Prez, Salamone Rossi, Jacob Obrecht, and others.

Sight-Reading sessions will take place on Wednesdays from 7:00-9:00 P.M., with set-up at 6:30 P.M., at the Reformed Church of Highland Park, 19 South Second Avenue. Free parking is available next to the church, via Magnolia Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Streets. Bring your stand.
