Online Seminar Series in Early Music Performance -- April 27, 2026

Join the Highland Park Recorder Society on April 27, 2026, for an online seminar presented by Héloise Degrugillier - "Speaking Music: Rhetoric in the Music of Johann Mattheson."

In this online workshop, we will explore music by Johann Mattheson from his first opus through the lens of musical rhetoric. We will examine how affect, gesture and rhetorical figures inform phrasing, articulation and ensemble dialogue with the goal of making the music speak clearly and persuasively.

The Zoom session opens at 7:15 PM EST for a meet and greet, and the instruction will begin at 7:30 PM EST.
